Aaliya is a three-year-old girl who lives in Tanzania with her single mother and her sibling. Her mother makes and sells snacks by the roadside.
Earlier this year, Aaliya was burned on her chest and left arm by hot tea while in the kitchen. She was taken to the nearest medical center and received first aid and medication to use at home. While at home, her aunt helped with her dressings to keep her wound dry and clean. However, they did not have enough money for hospital care. Despite their efforts at home, there was no improvement in her wound, and Aaliya continued to have frequent fevers.
Aaliya was referred to our medical partner’s care center and doctors determined she needs a skin graft to facilitate the healing process. On July 9th, Aaliya will undergo surgery and our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $693 to fund this procedure.
Aaliya’s mother says,“I just can’t wait for the wounds on my daughter’s body to heal, she has been through a lot and I feel sorry for her.”
