Srey Nich is a 26-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. She is married with one child, and both she and her husband work as rice farmers. In her free time, Srey Nich enjoys cooking and playing with her two year-old daughter. When she was ten years old, Srey Nich had an ear infection. This infection caused the ear drum in both ears to perforate. For this reason, Srey Nich experiences recurrent ear discharge and dryness in both ears. She feels uncomfortable due to the ear discharge, and has difficulty communicating clearly with her family and others. Srey Nich traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On August 14th, she will undergo a myringoplasty procedure in both ears, where surgeons will close the perforations. Srey Nich is able to contribute $100 towards the cost of her treatment and needs help raising $814 more to fund the procedure. Srey Nich says, "After surgery, I hope to improve my hearing so I can focus on work and take better care of my daughter."

Win is an 11-year-old student from Burma who lives with his family in a refugee camp in Thailand. His father has a shop in the camp while his mother is a homemaker. Win and his three younger brothers attend school in the camp. During his free time, he enjoys playing football and sometimes watching cartoons on YouTube. One day ago, Win began to experience troubling symptoms, including abdominal pain and vomiting. He was diagnosed with appendicitis and now needs surgery to prevent his condition from worsening. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is helping Win receive treatment. He is scheduled to undergo an appendectomy, a surgery to remove the appendix when it becomes infected, on October 10th. This procedure will cost $1500, and Win and his family need your support. “I have pain in my abdomen and I cannot touch it. It is very painful. I want this pain to stop,” said Win.

George is a 22-year-old young man from Githunguri in Kiambu County in Kenya. He is the second born in a family of three children. George was trained as a mason and does casual jobs at construction sites. Four months ago, George began to experience troubling symptoms, including abdominal pains and abdominal distension. He felt weak, dizzy, and uninterested in his surroundings. After experiencing delays in treatment at the local hospital, George's father brought George to our medical partner's care center, Nazareth Hospital, where he was seen by a surgeon and diagnosed with a mesenteric cyst in the abdomen. If not treated, George's condition may lead to complications such as bleeding, infection, rupture, or intestinal obstruction. Physicians recommend a laparotomy, which is a surgery that opens up the abdominal cavity to treat his mesenteric cyst. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $653 to fund George's surgery. On August 1st, he will undergo surgery at Nazareth Hospital. Once completed, this procedure will greatly improve his quality of life. “My parents are not in a good financial situation and have been struggling with me. I am seeking help so that my stomach can be treated, and I can be well again. Kindly help me and my parents,” shared George.
