John is an eight-year-old boy from Kenya, and the third born in a family of five. He is in first grade and dreams of becoming a pilot.
John was born with bilateral clubfoot, a condition in which both feet are twisted out of shape. This causes difficulty walking and even wearing shoes. Over the years, John has undergone treatment including surgery, but the condition recurred. When he was brought to our medical partner’s care center, AIC CURE Hospital, he underwent surgery on his right foot with the support of Watsi, and the foot is completely healed. He is now back for his second phase of treatment, currently undergoing serial casting in preparation for corrective surgery on his left foot. He still walks with some discomfort and occasionally falls when running or playing with his friends.
On May 12th, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, will help John undergo clubfoot repair surgery. This procedure will cost $1,286, and John needs your support to fund the surgery.
John’s mother says: “I wish to sincerely thank Watsi for the support you have provided us. We are very grateful for the help and care. We are hopeful that John will soon be able to walk, run, play with other children, and continue his education without pain.”
