Beatrice is a 37-year-old mother of three children from Uganda. She and her husband separated, and she and her children now live with her mother. She and her mother engage in small-scale farming, cultivating beans on borrowed land.
Three years ago, Beatrice began to experience troubling symptoms, including pain and discomfort, accompanied by significant weight loss. An abdominal ultrasound scan revealed a mild splenomegaly, or an enlarged spleen. She was diagnosed with hypersplenism associated with splenomegaly. Physicians recommend surgery to treat her condition.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $279 to fund Beatrice’s surgery. On June 24th, she will undergo surgery at Uganda Martyr’s Ibanda Hospital. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully greatly improve her quality of life.
Beatrice says, “I am very grateful to God for His protection and the doctor who connected me to the donor program. I hope I will be supported and get healed again. After the operation, I will keep practicing farming with my mother and take care of my children.”
