Sleumas is a soft drinks vendor from Cambodia. She has one brother and two sisters. She likes to watch the news and films on TV.
Two years ago, Sleumas developed a cataract in each eye, causing her blurry vision, sometimes itchiness, pain, and photophobia. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.

She says, “I hope I can see everything clearer than now so I can continue my work as a seller again and I can go anywhere outside well on my own.”

Sleumas underwent cataract surgery.
Sleumas has returned home after a successful operation. As per her doctor’s instructions, she had one eye done, and will need to return in a few weeks to have surgery on the other eye. Surgery will allow her to work and go about her daily life with improved vision. Her doctor looks forward to seeing her again in a couple weeks.
She says, “I feel very happy that I can see everything clearly. I can go anywhere outside myself and won’t need to disturb anyone to help take care of me.”
