Meet Noel, a happy 16-year-old boy from Tanzania! Noel is the youngest in a family of nine children and dreams of one day becoming a tailor, telling our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, “I have been close to my uncle who is a tailor and as time went by I became very fond of tailoring. I hope that one day I can become a famous tailor.”
Our partner adds that, “While at home, Noel helps her mother with everyday chores and he sometimes herd his father’s cattle although he won’t go far. Noel’s mother is a homemaker and his father keeps livestock and does a little bit of farming.”
Noel is currently experiencing bilateral genu valgus, or knocked knees, causing his knees to touch when his legs are straight. According to Noel’s doctors, “Noel has had trouble walking for a long time now. He cannot walk or run without his knees knocking each other. He feels pain after walking for a long time and he can’t join in some running games.” The team adds that “What [Noel’s father] earns is not enough to cover their basic needs as well as pay for Noel’s surgery.”
For $940, we can ensure Noel receives the medical care he needs in order to correct his gait. Let’s help fund this surgery and make sure Noel is on his way to becoming a tailor!
