Meet Muy, a 52-year-old woman from Cambodia. “Muy is married with three sons, one daughter, and 13 grandchildren. Muy enjoys watching Khmer movies and social news programs on TV,” shares our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC).
10 years ago, Muy developed a pterygium in each eye. A pterygium occurs when a growth starts on the clear tissue of the eye and spreads to the cornea. “This causes her to have blurred vision and experience tearing, irritation, and burning,” CSC explains.
After learning about CSC, Muy and her sister travelled two hours to visit their clinic. They learned that a simple surgical procedure can restore Muy’s sight.
With $150, Muy will undergo an excision surgery. CSC shares that after surgery, “The burning, pain, and irritation will be relieved. Her eyes will look much better after the operation. The redness and tearing will also stop.”
Let’s help fund this important operation for Muy so she can care for her family without pain and discomfort.
