Lort is a 77-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. She has three children and ten grandchildren. She likes to listen to monks pray on the radio and visit the local pagoda.
Two years ago, Lort developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her photophobia, blurred lens, and irritation. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Lort learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for five hours seeking treatment. On February 5, doctors will perform small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $211 procedure.
She says, “I hope I can see everything clearer so I can clean my home or plant some vegetables for family.”
