Ann is a bright 12-year-old girl from Kenya. She is the firstborn in a family of six children and is a fourth-grade student. She dreams of becoming a doctor so that she can one day support vulnerable children in her community who often struggle to access healthcare services. Her father is a small-scale farmer who works hard to support his family. Ann has clubfoot in both feet, a condition that has significantly affected her mobility. Clubfoot is a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape. This causes difficulty walking and even wearing shoes. She is unable to stand upright or walk long distances. Living in a hilly and rocky area has made everyday activities, including attending school, extremely challenging. To ensure that she does not miss classes, her father has often had to pay for motorcycle transport to take her to and from school despite the financial burden and the long distances involved. Ann experiences teasing from some of her peers, which has affected her confidence and social interactions. Ann is currently receiving treatment at our medical partner's care center, AIC Cure International Hospital, and is scheduled to undergo serial casting followed by corrective surgery to address her condition. This treatment is expected to improve her mobility, restore her confidence, and allow her to walk, learn, and thrive like other children her age. On June 10th, Ann will undergo clubfoot repair surgery, and our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $1,286 to fund Ann's treatment and care. After her recovery, she will be one step closer to achieving her dream of becoming a doctor and making a difference in the lives of children facing challenges similar to her own. “I would love to have feet just like my friends and other children,” Ann shared. “I want to recover fully, walk confidently, and live a normal life just like my friends,” she added.

Naw Ree is a 29-year-old woman from Burma. She lives with her mother, husband, sister, and brother in a refugee camp in Mae Hong Son Province, Thailand. She is a homemaker who also weaves traditional Karen clothes for sale. Her husband is not formerly employed, but looks after their vegetable garden, chickens, and two pigs. Her brother is a student, and her sister also weaves traditional Karen clothing. Together they earn 1,000 THB per month, which is often not enough to cover their daily expenses. The family receives free basic health care in the refugee camp provided by Malteser International (MI) Thailand. Naw Ree is currently expecting her first child. Her doctors recommend that she deliver via a caesarean section due to a high risk pregnancy. This way, doctors can ensure the safety of both mother and child. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is helping Naw Ree undergo a C-Section on May 14th. This procedure will cost $1500, and Naw Ree needs your support. Naw Ree said, “I wish to work as a healthcare worker in the future. If given the opportunity, I will apply to study as a midwife or a nurse at the camp hospital when my child is older.”

Ei is a 13-year-old girl from Burma. She lives with her father, two older sisters, and one older brother in Phop Phra District, Tak Province, Thailand. Ei’s father and all her siblings work as day labourers in the corn fields near their village, while Ei helps with the family’s daily household chores. Her mother passed away in March 2026. In her free time, Ei enjoys playing with her friends and helping with the family’s daily responsibilities. On the 23rd of June, 2026, Ei had intense lower abdominal pain, vomiting, and a fever. She went to the local clinic near her village, where she underwent another physical examination and was diagnosed with appendicitis by the nurse. She was referred to our medical partner's care center, Mae Sot General Hospital, for surgery and further care. On June 25th, Ei will undergo an appendectomy. Our medical partner, Burma Medical Children Fund (BCMF), is asking for help in raising $1,500 for her procedure and care. After recovery, Ei should be able to return to her daily activities and support her family. Ei’s father expressed his gratitude, saying, “Thank you so much to this organisation [HFA-BCMF] and the donors for your kindness in supporting my youngest daughter’s treatment costs. We feel immense happiness because of your help. We could not afford her surgery, as our family can only meet daily needs if we work every day. Your support has brought great relief and blessings to our family.”
