Meet Vorn, a 78-year old grandmother from Cambodia with five sons, two daughters, and 16 grandchildren. “In her free time, she does housework,” says our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC).
Vorn has mature cataracts, clouding of the normally clear lens, in both eyes. “For the past month, Vorn has had a cataract in each eye leaving her partially blind in addition to a pterygium. She does not like the way this makes her look. It is hard for her to see anything well,” CSC says.
$225 will fund surgery that will restore Vorn’s vision in both eyes. After the surgery, Vorn will be able to see clearly again, walk outside, and go to the pagoda. She also wants to be able to cook and take care of her family.
CSC shares, “Vorn will be able to see clearly again and walk wherever she wants without help from her husband or other family members.”

Vorn received surgery to restore her vision.
“Vorn can see everything clearly now and reports having less pain. She can cook and care for her family,” our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, shares. “Vorn is very happy that she can see everything again and is thankful to the doctors and all the staff at CSC that helped her receive surgery for her eyes.”
“Now that I can see everything clearer than before I can do more work by myself like cook food,” Vorn says. “I can easily go to the pagoda, and go anywhere by myself.”
