At age 16, Joan from Kenya is expecting to give birth to her first child! Across the world, 99% of all maternal deaths occur in developing countries - largely because women don’t have access to skilled birth attendants.
Joan and her husband are farmers who “grow maize and beans for family use, and sugarcane for money to supplement [their] needs.” Joan is currently saving up money for her birth, but she is seeking aid from the maternal and child healthcare program at Lwala Community Alliance. Joan is “praying for safe delivery in a health facility” and for a healthy child that will be able to be immunized at birth.
For $215, we can make sure Joan has a healthy baby supervised by a qualified person, and has access to checkups after the delivery. Let’s help give Joan and her baby a healthy start!
