Biyangye is a 75-year-old father of seven children. Both Biyangye and his wife are farmers. They sell surplus from their harvest, but their income is seasonal. When the harvest is poor, they can’t afford to buy sugar, meat, and any food that they don’t grow.
In 2015, Biyangye developed a painful swelling in his right groin. Farming became difficult, because he cannot bend or lift heavy items without pain. When he learned about Watsi, he visited our medical partner’s care center, Holy Family Virika Hospital.
Biyangye says, “I feel a lot of pain because of this sickness.”
Fortunately, Biyangye is scheduled to undergo a hernia repair surgery on November 23. After treatment, he hopes to work hard to support his family.

Biyangye underwent hernia repair surgery.
Biyangye’s hernia repair was a success. He is no longer at risk of obstruction of the hernia. After recovery, he will be able to work in his gardens.
Biyangye says, “I feel fine and very happy because I now know that I will not die of hernia. I thank God because I was scared, but I have come out of theatre. I hope I will regain my strength and resume working in my gardens. God bless the people who have paid for my surgery.”
