Meet 87-year-old Beatrice from Kenya. She has seven children, all of whom have their own families. Beatrice loves farming and even to this day, she can be found tending to her small farm.
Beatrice has recently been diagnosed with cervical cancer, following a pap smear and biopsy, both of which were performed at our medical partner’s care centre, AIC Kijabe Hospital.
Doctors at AIC Kijabe Hospital have advised that Beatrice requires a loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP). During this procedure, a small electrical wire loop is inserted into the cervix to remove the abnormal cells. Without medical intervention, Beatrice will be at increased risk of developing metastatic cervical cancer.
Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is asking for donations to the amount of $156 to help cover Beatrice’s medical bill.
“I want to be well and lead a normal life after surgery. I would love to enjoy my old age,” says Beatrice.
