Evans is a six-year-old boy from Kenya. He is in second grade and the second born in a family of two children. His father works as a motorbike rider, while his mother is a housewife.
On the first week of December 2024, Evans was playing with other children. He was climbing a tree and accidentally fell on his right arm, injuring his elbow. He was taken to the hospital and an x-ray showed a fracture of the elbow joint. As the parents could not afford surgery, they did not seek treatment for Evans’ fracture.
Evans’ family was referred to our medical partner’s care center, Nazareth Hospital. On December 10th, Evans will undergo a fracture repair procedure, called an open reduction and internal fixation. The treatment will alleviate the pain, and the hand will heal without deformity or malunion. He will also be able to resume his education. Now, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $1,048 to fund this procedure.
Evans’ father shared, “We have stayed at home with a child having a broken hand, not because we wanted to but because we had no means of raising money for his treatment. We would be very grateful and thank God if we assisted. We wish to see our son happy again and ready to go back to school.”
