Voy is a potato farmer from Cambodia. She has four sons, three daughters, and 21 grandchildren. She enjoys listening to monks pray on the radio.
Five months ago, Voy developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her pain, burning, irritation, and a clouded lens. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Voy learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, she traveled for five hours seeking treatment. On August 6, doctors will perform a extra-capsular cataract extraction surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $211 procedure.
She says, “I hope my surgery is successful so I can lead an independent life.”
