Nyunt is a 45-year-old man from a village in Burma. He is married and has six children. He is a subsistence farmer who grows rice and betel nut. His wife and oldest daughter work in Bangkok and send money home.
In February 2016, Nyunt began experiencing stabbing pain in his abdomen and in his back. He also developed a distended abdomen. He visited a local hospital, where he was given medication. Unfortunately, this did not relieve his condition. A medic recommended he seek care with our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund.
Nyunt is now scheduled for a CT scan on March 18. This procedure will give his doctors more information about the cause of his abdominal pain, allowing them to plan for further care.
Nyunt needs $414 to pay for the scan. Let’s help him begin getting better!

Nyunt received a CT scan.
Nyunt recently received a CT scan, and the results indicate possible inflammation of his bowels. This has helped the doctors determine a new treatment plan for Nyunt, especially because they had formerly been treating him with different medications for a suspected obstruction. Now that they know the cause of Nyunt’s condition, they have changed the treatment regimen. This has made Nyunt feel a lot better. He has been eating well and can now pass stool without a problem.
Nyunt says, “I was very worried before the result came out. I was worried my condition would be difficult to treat. I’m very happy to know I don’t need any surgery. I would like to thank all the donors for supporting my CT scan.”
