Sambath is a factory worker from Cambodia. He has a brother and three sisters. He likes to help his mother with her work in his free time. Eight months ago, he was in a motor vehicle accident that caused paralysis of his left arm. He has been diagnosed with a brachial plexus injury on his left side. The brachial plexus is a nerve network that transmits signals from the spine to the shoulder, arm, and hand. Injuries to this nerve network can result in loss of function and sensation. He is unable to move his left arm and has no sensation in his arm. Sambath traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On August 9, he will undergo a brachial plexus repair surgery. After recovery, he will be able to use his arm again and return to work.. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is requesting $637 to fund this procedure. He says, "I hope after the operation I can return to work and use my arm easily without pain."

Sonfong is a young woman from Cambodia. She has one brother and three sisters. She enjoys spending time with friends. Sonfong was born with a congenital deformity of her hand. The contractures on her four fingers make it difficult for her to carry things and bend her fingers. She needs to undergo a contracture release surgery to improve her mobility in her hand. Sonfong is scheduled for corrective surgery at our medical partner's care center on August 1. Now, she needs help raising $417 to fund this procedure. She says, "I hope after the operation, my hand is better and I can move my fingers freely."

Vanna is a factory worker from Cambodia. She has three brothers. She is married and has one son and one daughter. She likes to tend to her vegetable garden. Vanna has strabismus in her right eye. Strabismus is a misalignment of the eye caused by injury or dysfunction in the associated nerves and muscles. She has blurred vision and photophobia. Vanna traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On June 1, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), will perform a corrective procedure to align her eyes. Now, Vanna needs help to raise $292 to fund this procedure. She says, "I hope my surgery is successful and I can return to work soon."

Faines is a mother of five from Malawi. She lives with her husband and children, and they run a small farm. Faines spends her days caring for her home and family, and in her free time she likes to attend church with her husband and children. Since October 2017, Faines has been experiencing pain and abnormal bleeding. She has been diagnosed with cervical cancer. She needs to undergo a hysterectomy, a procedure in which surgeons will remove her uterus. Our medical partner, World Altering Medicine, is requesting $650 to fund Faines's surgery. On April 5, she will undergo gynecological surgery at Nkhoma Hospital, our medical partner's care center. The requested money pays for supplies, medications, and seven nights of hospital stay. Faines and her family were thrilled to find out her surgery would be funded. She says, "Thank you so much."

Leakhena is a seventh grader from Cambodia. She has two brothers and one sister. She likes reading about history and watching TV. Leakhena has ptosis in her left eye. Ptosis occurs when the eyelid droops over the eye. She has blurred vision. Leakhena traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On February 5, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), will perform an eyelid correction procedure to improve her vision. Now, Leakhena needs help to raise $292 to fund this procedure. Her mother says, "I worry about my daughter's vision."

Hong is a 47-year-old motorcycle taxi driver from Cambodia. He enjoys using Facebook. He has been married for many years and now has two grandchildren. He sustained a fracture fifteen years ago, but now the leg is becoming more painful and deformed. He can no longer walk very far, his leg is painful, and he cannot ride his motorcycle. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On January 9, Hong will undergo a fracture repair procedure, which will cost $430. This procedure will help him walk again. He says, "I hope to walk well after the operation."

Aminiel is a primary school boy from Tanzania. He is the fifth born in a family of six children. Aminieli's parents are both livestock keepers, so they depend on selling milk and meat to meet their daily needs. They are trying to save money to send him to private high school. For three years, Aminiel has been experiencing breathing difficulties. Frequent illness causes him to miss school. Aminiel was recently diagnosed with enlarged tonsils, which, if not treated, will cause his symptoms to persist and possibly intensify over time. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $633 to fund a tonsillectomy for Aminiel, which is scheduled to take place on January 4. Surgeons will remove his tonsils, hopefully relieving Aminiel of his symptoms and helping him live more comfortably. Aminieli’s mother says, “Please help my son get treatment. He is struggling to breathe. He has been getting sick frequently and he is not sleeping well.”
