SreyVann is a bright student from Cambodia. She lives with her parents and has a 13-year-old older brother and a six-year-old younger brother. Her parents work on a pepper plantation in the Kampong Cham province. At home, she enjoys doing her homework with her brothers or helping her mother with housework. For the past three years, SreyVann has been experiencing headaches, a sore throat, and fevers. She misses school frequently and has difficulty swallowing and breathing. She often feels unwell and has little appetite, which worries her parents. SreyVann was recently diagnosed with enlarged tonsils and adenoids, which, if not treated, will cause her symptoms to persist and possibly worsen over time. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is requesting $265 to fund a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy for SreyVann, which is scheduled to take place on November 22nd. Surgeons will remove her tonsils and adenoids, relieving SreyVann of her symptoms and helping her live much more comfortably. SreyVann's mother said, "We tried many medicines, but my daughter is still sick. I hope this operation will cure her and she can enjoy going back to school."

Jessie is a brave two-year-old guy who lives with his parents and his three siblings in a rural part of the Central Philippines. His father is a hardworking farmer who makes about $25 a month to support his family. When Jessie was born, he endured a series of operations to temporarily fix a congenital defect that prevented him from passing stool properly. The operations may have saved his life, but they also wiped out his parents' savings and did not permanently solve the problem. Now, Jessie is in constant pain and must wear a colostomy bag. But Jessie is a resilient kid, and despite extreme discomfort as a result of his condition, he still loves to sing, dance, and play with his siblings. For $985, Jessie can receive surgery to have his large intestinal hernia repaired and his colostomy closed. “This surgery means everything to us because we can’t ignore or dare to see our son in pain" said Jessie's parents. Issa is an active 14-year-old who loves sports, especially soccer. He lives with his mother in a city close to the Malian capital. Issa has been reporting increasing abdominal pains. He was recently treated for a malaria infection, but the pains have continued. Upon further investigation, his doctors found that Issa has appendicitis. He was referred for surgical treatment, but Issa’s mother, a widowed housecleaner who does her best to provide for her family, is unable to cover the cost of her son’s life-saving treatment. An inflamed appendix can quickly turn into a medical emergency. Surgery to have Issa's appendix removed costs $595. Chanty is 20 and lives in Cambodia with her parents and six siblings, whom she loves spending time with. She is very ambitious, and hopes to one day get a job that she loves. For $600, Chanty will receive surgery to have her tumor removed. This surgery is expected to be both restorative and preventative, allowing Chanty to move forward with her life free of her current symptoms and the potentially fatal progression of the tumor.
