Sim is a silk producer from Cambodia. She has one daughter and six grandkids. She likes to listen to the monks pray on the radio. Six months ago, Sim developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her partial blindness, tearing, a clouded lens. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside. When Sim learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for one hour seeking treatment. On July 17, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $211 procedure. She says, "I hope my vision is improved after the surgery so that I can return to work and look after my grandkids."

Dorcus is a student from Tanzania. She is the oldest child in a family of two children. Her father is a subsistence farmer, while her mother is a parish worker. Recently, Dorcus has been experiencing trouble breathing and eating and regular sleep apnea. She was recently diagnosed with enlarged tonsils, which, if not treated, will cause her symptoms to persist and possibly intensify over time. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $633 to fund a tonsillectomy for Dorcus, which is scheduled to take place on June 28. Surgeons will remove her tonsils, hopefully relieving Dorcus of her symptoms and helping her live more comfortably. Dorcus’s father says, “I want my daughter to be able to go to school without being sick regularly.”

Uth is a food vendor from Cambodia. She has one son and two grandchildren. She enjoys reading about Buddha in her free time. One year ago, Uth developed a cataract in her left eye, causing her photophobia, irritation, and tearing. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside. When Uth learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for one and a half hours seeking treatment. On June 7, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her left eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $211 procedure. She says, "I look forward to going to the pagoda, participating in ceremonies, and going anywhere by myself."
