Ra is a married 32-year-old metal worker from Cambodia. Ra's wife works in a factory, and they have two school-aged daughters. Eight months ago Ra fell and developed severe lower back and left hip pain, leading to difficulty walking. Ra was diagnosed with avascular necrosis, which is the death of bone tissue due to lack of blood supply. Fortunately, Ra learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre. At CSC, surgeons can perform a total hip replacement to relieve Ra of his pain and allow him to walk easily. Treatment is scheduled for June 24th, and Ra needs help raising $1,087 to pay for this procedure. Ra looks forward to his recovery, "I am happy that I can get an operation here. After surgery I hope I heal and can return to work without pain."

Davis is a bright young student from a village in Kenya. He's a six-year-old playful boy and the fourth-born in a family of six. His family lives in a two-roomed iron-built house on their inherited small farm. His father is a farmer who plants maize and his mother is a housewife. Davis' parents do not have any other source of income and only depend on farming. Due to this, they are having a difficult time financially, especially amid the pandemic. Unfortunately, on September 27th, Davis sustained a severe injury to his right lower limb after falling from a Sheller machine (a machine for shelling maize cobs) after trying to climb it. After hearing his cries, his father brought him to our medical partner's care center. The doctors reviewed him and an X-Ray revealed a fracture to his right femur. Davis was admitted to the hospital for skin traction to stabilize his fracture and realign the normal position of the bone. Due to the severity of the injury, Davis is in a lot of pain and couldn't walk nor sit properly. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, can help. On October 1st, Davis will undergo a fracture repair procedure called an open reduction and internal fixation. AMH is requesting $1,145 to help fund this procedure. After successful treatment, Davis will be able to walk and resume his normal life and playful activities. Davis' father says, “He has so much pain, I feel sorry for him. I hope he gets treated and feels better and will be well again.”

Thy is a 68-year-old mother of three from Cambodia. She has five grandchildren, and enjoys watching movies, listening to the radio, and looking after her grandchildren in her free time. One year ago, Thy developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her blurry vision and photophobia. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside. When Thy learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for one and a half hours seeking treatment. On July 4, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $211 procedure. She says, "I hope that after surgery, I am able to see clearly and can help take care of my grandchildren."

Soeb is a 60-year-old mother of eight from Cambodia. She has three sons, five daughters, and thirty grandchildren, and she enjoys listening to the monks pray on the radio in her free time. Three months ago, Soeb developed a cataract in her right eye, causing her blurry and cloudy vision. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside. When Soeb learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for two and a half hours seeking treatment. On July 1, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in her right eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $211 procedure. She says, "I hope that I can see clearly again after my surgery so I can help my daughter to cook and do the housework, as well as go anywhere I want to on my own."

Mekaisi is a farmer and father to nine from Malawi. He lives with his wife and has 34 grandchildren. In his free time, he enjoys watching football. Since October 2018, Mekaisi has been experiencing pain and urinary difficulty. These symptoms are caused by an enlarged prostate, a condition called benign prostatic hyperplasia. He needs to undergo a prostate resection surgery, a procedure in which surgeons will remove part of the enlarged gland. Our medical partner, World Altering Medicine, is requesting $733 to fund Mekaisi's surgery. On April 2, he will undergo prostate surgery at Nkhoma Hospital, our medical partner's care center. The requested money pays for supplies, medications, and two weeks of hospital stay. Mekaisi and his family are both feeling great about this surgery so he can live a normal life again. He says, "Thank you to this project, please continue to assist the needy."

Rachhith is a twelfth grade student from Cambodia. He has three brothers and a sister. He likes to read and play football. Sixteen years ago, Rachhith developed nasal polyps, noncancerous growths in the lining of the nasal passage. For this reason, he experiences nasal obstruction. It is difficult for him to breathe. When Rachhith learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for four hours seeking treatment. On December 5, doctors will perform a nasal polypectomy to remove the polyps. After recovery, he will be able to breathe more easily. Now, he needs help to fund this $267 procedure. He says, "I hope I can breathe and sleep better after the operation."

Pheaktra is a baker from Cambodia. He has one sister and five brothers. He likes to watch TV in his free time. Three months ago, Pheaktra was in a motor vehicle accident that caused paralysis of his left arm. He has been diagnosed with a brachial plexus injury on his left side. The brachial plexus is a nerve network that transmits signals from the spine to the shoulder, arm, and hand. Injuries to this nerve network can result in loss of function and sensation. He is unable to move his left hand and has no sensation below his elbow. Pheaktra traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On August 3, he will undergo a brachial plexus repair surgery. After recovery, he will be able to use his arm again. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is requesting $637 to fund this procedure. He says, "I hope after the operation I am better and can move my arm without pain."

Sonfong is a young woman from Cambodia. She has one brother and three sisters. She enjoys spending time with friends. Sonfong was born with a congenital deformity of her hand. The contractures on her four fingers make it difficult for her to carry things and bend her fingers. She needs to undergo a contracture release surgery to improve her mobility in her hand. Sonfong is scheduled for corrective surgery at our medical partner's care center on August 1. Now, she needs help raising $417 to fund this procedure. She says, "I hope after the operation, my hand is better and I can move my fingers freely."

Chhenghuon is a sculptor from Cambodia. She has four daughters, five sons, and forty grandchildren. She likes to listen to monks pray on the radio. Two years ago, Chhenghuon developed a cataract in each eye, causing her blurred vision, burning, irritation, itchiness, and clouded lens. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside. When Chhenghuon learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for half an hour seeking treatment. On June 1, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification surgery and an intraocular lens implant in each eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $398 procedure. She says, "I hope my vision is clear again after surgery so I can help my family to do work at home and take care of my grandchildren."

Faines is a mother of five from Malawi. She lives with her husband and children, and they run a small farm. Faines spends her days caring for her home and family, and in her free time she likes to attend church with her husband and children. Since October 2017, Faines has been experiencing pain and abnormal bleeding. She has been diagnosed with cervical cancer. She needs to undergo a hysterectomy, a procedure in which surgeons will remove her uterus. Our medical partner, World Altering Medicine, is requesting $650 to fund Faines's surgery. On April 5, she will undergo gynecological surgery at Nkhoma Hospital, our medical partner's care center. The requested money pays for supplies, medications, and seven nights of hospital stay. Faines and her family were thrilled to find out her surgery would be funded. She says, "Thank you so much."

Samnang is a three-year-old girl from Cambodia. She has five brothers and three sisters. She is the baby of the family. She likes to play with toys. One year ago, she was burned by a fire on her fingers. It is difficult for her to hold onto things and use the burned fingers. When Samnang's family learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, they traveled for six hours seeking treatment. On February 2, surgeons at CSC will perform a skin graft procedure to to help her use her hand again. Now, Samnang's family needs help to fund this $440 procedure. Her mother says, "I hope my daughter can use her fingers again and return home to her family."
