Meet Sainder! Sainder is a one-year-old boy from Haiti. He lives with his parents and two siblings out in the countryside. Sainder’s parents work in the fields to grow food for their family and are just able to provide for their children’s basic needs. Sainder was born with a cleft lip, which needs treatment so he can eat normally. The first hospital Sainder’s parents took him to were unable to help, but luckily our medical partner, Project Medishare can. Doctors from Project Medishare write, “Sainder is unable to eat and drink well, and he feels uncomfortable due to his lip deformation. Treatment will bring joy to his family’s life because he will be able to eat and drink easily.” “I am very excited to see how my son will look after surgery!” exclaims Sainder’s mother. For $960, Sainder will receive surgery for his cleft lip, which will improve his appearance, as well as allow him to eat, drink, and breathe without difficulty. Meet Emmaculate. She's 22-years-old, a wife, and a loving and caring mother to three children. Emmaculate's husband works as a laborer to support the family while Emmaculate spends her time taking care of household duties and listening to advice from her elders. "Emmaculate says she feels the fetus moves and kicks her belly after walking for a while," our medical partner, Lwala Community Alliance, tells us about her current pregnancy. "She is expecting her fourth child and hoping for a baby girl so that she can have two boys and two girls..." As she prepares for her baby's future, the first thing on Emmaculate's mind is to ensure a safe delivery for her newborn in a health facility. "After a successful delivery, I will sell some of my farm produce to start a small business and ensure that my children are provided with the basic needs," she says. With $290, we can provide Emmaculate prenatal care, a safe delivery in a hospital, and a postnatal care after her baby is born.

This wide-eyed little guy is Andri, a one-year-old from Guatemala. Andri gets frequent intestinal infections, which lead to poor appetite and weight loss. He’s not developing motor skills or growing at the rate he should be, which has his family worried. Andri’s parents come from a poor rural area. Our medical partner, Wuqu’ Kawoq, says, “They have limited food to feed their children and no economic ability to pay for medical care. They've been very concerned about how poorly Andri is doing, and they've come to us looking for help.” For $535, Andri can receive intensive nutritional therapy to help him start growing again.
