Panha Bot is a four-year-old boy from Cambodia. He likes eating fried egg and rice and likes watching cartoons. Panha Bot has strabismus in both eyes. Strabismus is a misalignment of the eye caused by injury or dysfunction in the associated nerves and muscles. It is difficult for him to see clearly and his eyes are not straight. Panha Bot traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On June 1, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), will perform a corrective procedure to align his eyes. Now, Panha Bot needs help to raise $292 to fund this procedure.

Pet is a vegetable farmer from Cambodia. She has a daughter and a son. She likes to take care of her kids and tend to her farm. When she was four years old, Pet had an ear infection. This infection caused the tympanic membrane, or the ear drum, in her left ear to perforate. For this reason, Pet experiences hearing loss, recurrent infection, and tinnitus. She cannot communicate clearly with others and cannot hear well. Pet traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On June 7, she will undergo a myringoplasty procedure in her left ear. During this procedure, surgeons will close the perforation. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is requesting $423 to fund this procedure. This covers medications, supplies, and inpatient care. She says, "I hope my hearing is improved after the surgery."

Tumubwine is a small-scale farmer from Uganda. She is a widow with five children. Fifteen years ago, Tumubwine began to experience troubling symptoms, including difficulty swallowing and breathing. She was diagnosed with a goiter, an abnormal enlargement of the thyroid gland. She needs surgery to prevent her symptoms from getting worse. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Tumubwine receive treatment. She is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on May 8 at our medical partner's care center. Surgeons will remove all or part of her thyroid gland. This procedure will cost $240, and she and her family need help raising money. Tumubwine says, “I hope to have an improved quality of life after surgery and I continue with cultivation.”
