Khin Pa loves to learn and wants to be a teacher when she grows up. Several months ago, she broke her right thigh bone. Unable to walk, Khin Pa stopped attending school. Her parents paid over a day's worth of their combined wages to take her to a clinic. Despite their efforts, she did not receive proper care and has been immobile ever since. Khin Pa needs immediate care to repair her broken leg and the right medication to treat her enlarged lymph nodes. The income her parents earn as carpenters and day laborers is hardly enough to provide for the daily needs of their family of seven, let alone pay the $2,000 needed for Khin Pa's treatment. With our help, Khin Pa can get the medical care she needs to be healthy and mobile again so she can return to school and fulfill her dreams of becoming a teacher!

Samuel is a resilient 33-year-old man who remains in good spirits and has a generous heart despite his medical condition. As a newborn he had hydrocephalus, a potentially life-threatening condition of excess fluid in the brain, but survived and grew up to do fairly well. A few months ago, Samuel started to experience severe headaches and seizures. He was diagnosed with a mucocele (a mucus-containing cystic lesion) in his brain. If left untreated, Samuel will continue to have severe symptoms which can lead to premature death. Samuel currently lives with his mother in a small village. She has been the rock of their family, supporting him and his five siblings single-handedly after the death of their father years ago. The income she makes from her small vegetable farm combined with Samuel’s wages from working as a casual laborer are still not enough to cover the medical care he needs. The craniotomy needed to remove the mucocele from Samuel’s brain costs $1,500. The doctors expect this will relieve his symptoms and help him live a long and healthy life. “I would love to open a kiosk when I get better. Then I could help my mother,” says Samuel. Let’s make this happen for him!

Nine-year-old Cristabel is a happy-go-lucky girl who always has a huge smile on her face. She loves to make friends and enjoys playing “whatever game her imagination has come up with at that moment,” according to her doctors. Unfortunately, Cristabel was born with clubfoot, a condition which sometimes hinders her relationships with her peers because it prevents her from walking or moving normally. Even though Cristabel tries to hide her deformity, other children notice and make cruel jokes about her. Because of this, Cristabel has been “living with limitations her entire life.” For $1,000, we can fund Cristabel’s surgery so she can enjoy a happy and pain-free life!
