John is a young student from Haiti who lives with his mother and two older brothers in a neighborhood of Port-au-Prince. He already loves going to kindergarten and enjoys playing with puzzles. John has a cardiac condition called double outlet right ventricle meaning the major arteries connect to the heart in an abnormal location making it difficult for blood to properly flow through his body. Unfortunately the treatment John needs to heal is not available anywhere in Haiti. So, John is flying to the Cayman Islands to receive cardiac surgery. On May 25th, surgeons will detach the arteries from John's heart and reconnect them in their anatomically correct locations. Have a Heart Cayman is contributing $17,000 to pay for this surgery. Our medical partner, Haiti Cardiac Alliance, needs $1,500 to help John's family cover labs, medicines, and follow-up appointments. It also supports passport obtainment and the social workers from Haiti Cardiac Alliance who will accompany John's family overseas. John's mother shared, "Our family all looks forward to our son having a more normal life after this surgery!"

Apophia is a 34-year-old woman who owns and runs a small retail shop for her livelihood. She recently got married and her husband is a technician who does solar installations around their village when he can get work to do this. Their family rents two rooms for their shelter and are not able to meet the cost of surgery for her upcoming c-section delivery. Apophia is currently expecting her second child and her doctors have recommended a c-section so they can better ensure the safety of both Apophia and her new baby. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is helping Apophia undergo a C-Section on April 14th. This procedure will cost $214, and their family needs your support. Apophia says, “I pray that I may have a successful surgery and have a healthy baby. I will continue to run my family’s retail shop for the well-being and development of my family.”

Theara is a bright 3rd grade student. He has two older sisters and his parents are garment workers in a factory. Theara loves to play football with his friends. Three years ago, the retina of Theara's left eye detached, causing him partial blindness and tearing. When Theara's family learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for one and a half hours seeking treatment. On November 23rd, eye surgeons will perform a retinal detachment repair procedure in his left eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, our medical partner needs help to fund this $648 procedure. Theara's mother says, "I hope his eye can heal so he can see clearly again."
