Meet Everilda, a strong 19-year-old woman from Guatemala. Everilda is experiencing an aggressive onset of rheumatoid arthritis. Her condition leaves her in excruciating pain, and unable to work or study. Due to her lack of financial resources and severe disability, it has taken Everilda several months to seek medical care. She is in danger of permanent disability if the swelling and destruction in her joints isn't halted soon. Please help us raise $500 for a rheumatology consultation, diagnostic studies, and specialized medications to control her disease. Tseganesh has a large abdominal mass that's putting dangerous pressure on her internal organs and threatening to turn into a critical condition if it bleeds or becomes infected. Tseganesh is the oldest of three children. She loves school, but often asks her parents if she can stay home because her classmates "make fun of her tummy." Her father, who is a farmer, worries about her future. "She is my first born. Many members of my family are expecting her to be successful in her education and help the rest of the family, but if this problem continues, I am very skeptical that this will be so." The surgery Tseganesh needs costs $1000. Her doctors expect it to give her a chance at a normal, productive life.

Pemphero is a sweet girl whose parents want her to live a normal, healthy life. She is at the age where she is beginning to want to walk and run, but a medical condition threatens to prevent her from being able to live an active life. Pemphero was born with bowed legs, a condition which causes her legs to turn inward and makes it difficult for her to walk. Her parents are worried that without treatment, Pemphero will miss out on opportunities that her peers will have in school, work, and adult life. Pemphero lives in Malawi, where 74% of people live on less than $1.25 a day. CURE International can perform surgery to treat her condition, but her parents cannot afford to pay for her care. We hope to raise the $1000 needed to cover the cost of Pemphero’s treatment and enable her to live a happy, active life.

Gladys is a 6-year-old girl with severe burns on half of her body. After four months, her burns are finally beginning to heal, but a post-burn scar contracture on her hip is restricting her movement and preventing her from walking normally. Fortunately, surgeons at CURE Malawi can operate on Gladys to release her hip contracture and enable her to walk normally again. Gladys is a remarkable little girl who remains positive in spite of adversity.
