Christine a 28-year-old mother of three from a village in rural Uganda, approximately 30 km from Bwindi Community Hospital, a Watsi care center. She is currently pregnant for the fourth time: the first pregnancy was still born and the last two deliveries were by C-section. She and her husband Hassan are so excited to be expecting this third child. When Christine is free she likes going to church, which neighbors her house. She also likes to walk in her gardens as she plans the next day's work. Christine is scheduled for a C-section in order to have a safe birth. She has had two previous C-section scars and the last one was done less than two years back. Christine is staying in the Waiting Mothers’ Hostel at the hospital so she can be near her doctors and won't have to travel when she goes into labor. Both Christine and Hassan are subsistence farmers. They grow beans, corn, and cabbages. They really appreciate the support because they don’t have much money. $258 will cover the costs of the surgery and care Christine needs to safely deliver her baby. She is looking forward to going home and raising her children, taking them to school, and growing enough food for them to eat. Christine says, “I want to thank everyone helping me with hospital bills, and the hospital for a waiting mother’s hostel. The donors giving support to strangers to me this is a miracle, I spent all our savings and had to sell off some goats for my pregnancies, I am so grateful that there is help for this delivery. May God bless the donors.”
