Bagirorwabusha is a 65-year-old woman from Uganda. She practices small-scale farming alongside her husband, although her husband recently had to retire from farming due to old age. They have four children, with their oldest child in their 40s and their youngest child in their late 20s. Through their hard work farming over the years, Bagirorwabusha and her husband are proud of the three-room home they've built to shelter their family. A month ago, Bagirorwabusha began to experience an inguinal hernia that causes her severe pain and fatigue and prevents her from being able to work. Fortunately, on November 10th, Bagirorwabusha will undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner's care center. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $170 to fund this procedure. Upon recovery, Bagirorwabusha will be able to live more comfortably and confidently because of this surgery. Bagirorwabusha says, “My condition worries me a lot, and I feel uncomfortable most of the time. I pray that I may get well through surgery so that I may have peace of mind and continue to do my day-to-day duties for the further development of my family.”

Felix is a 6th grade student and the oldest in a family of 2 siblings. His little brother is three yrs. old and not yet in school. Both of his parents are small-scale farmers, growing maize, beans, and bananas to support their family. During their free time, his parents also till land for other people to earn more for the upkeep of their family. They own a small piece of land, where they have constructed a timber house. They also own a cow that provides them with a little milk to use at home. In July Felix fell down while playing with his friends. He injured his finger and now is not able to use it and is still in pain. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner can help. On November 11th, Felix will undergo a fracture repair procedure, called an open reduction and internal fixation. After he heals, he will be able to use his left hand freely. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $916 to fund this procedure. Felix’s mother says, "I am pleading for financial help for my son.’’

Sophal has two sons, five daughters, and ten grandchildren. She enjoys cleaning the house, cooking, and taking care of her grandchildren. In early January 2019, Sophal started to experience pain in her left shoulder after an accident, and was unable to work or continue with daily activities. Her pain persisted, and she visited other hospitals for treatment, but they did not have any success. When she arrived, her biopsy results showed that Sophal is likely to have malignant cancer in her arm. Sophal will undergo a shoulder disarticulation to remove her arm, which will hopefully limit the spreading of the cancer and relieve her pain. Sophal shared, "I hope that my surgery will go well and that afterwards, I will no longer be in anymore pain."

Binyomo is a farmer from Uganda. He is 74 years old and a father of nine. He works as a farmer. Binyomo has had a swelling in a sensitive area for a long time. The swelling has increased in size over the years. It doesn't hurt, but it causes him discomfort when he sits. Binyomo traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On December 13, surgeons will remove the mass. Now, Binyomo needs help to raise $196 to fund this procedure. Binyomo says, "I am told by the doctor that my condition needs surgery and I am unable to pay for it. I need help."
