Srey Mao is a single mother of two. She lives in a rural village with her aunt. They love to cook together. For $300, we can help pay for the surgery to improve function in her hand and help her provide for her family.

When Poly was only six-years-old, he had constant fevers and was taken to local village doctors in Cambodia for treatment. To cure Poly's illnesses, the doctors injected medicines into Poly's legs which caused muscle stiffness and made it difficult for Poly to bend his legs. Now, at 16-years-old, Poly still is unable to walk properly. Poly's family is eager for him to receive the treatment he needs to walk comfortably, but they live in a remote location where adequate care is very limited. They cannot afford the cost of transportation and surgery in a larger health facility. Since then, Mue Soe has been in and out of health clinics due to her chronic fatigue and weakness. She is especially worried about paying for her healthcare now, since her mother passed away and she takes care of her younger brother. For $2,000, we can help Mue Soe receive cardiac surgery. Daw is a 55-year-old mother of four sons. She is also the primary caretaker for her husband and her elderly mother, both of whom had strokes in the last few years. Until recently, Daw sold snacks as a street vendor, but health problems now prevent her from working. Daw lived a healthy life before she began experiencing severe abdominal pain. She was diagnosed with uterine prolapse, a condition in which the muscles holding the uterus in place fail, causing the uterus to drop out of its normal position. Daw's doctor recommended removing her uterus, but because of the medical bills she was unable to support her family and afford the surgery. Daw has two grandchildren, and she says she hopes “to live long enough to see all her grandchildren grow into happy, healthy human beings.” For $750, we can fund Daw’s surgery and grant her wish!

Jasmin is three. She is one of seven children, and she lives with her family in Tanzania. Jasmin was born with Hirschsprung's Disease, a condition that makes it impossible for her to go to the restroom without the use of enemas (procedures that promote immediate bowel movements). Repeated enemas have exacerbated Jasmin's problem, and now she has also developed enterocolitis - an inflammation of the small intestine and colon. Jasmin's parents are farmers who barely manage to support their large family. Jasmin's $1,200 surgery costs would be an impossible financial burden to bear, so it's up to us to help Jasmin get the treatment she needs. Let's chip in to relieve Jasmin of her pain!

Moe Moe is a 15-year old girl who is deeply dedicated to her family. She has a large mass on her neck that her doctors say could become "very dangerous" if she doesn't have immediate surgery to remove it. Moe Moe left school when she was in the second grade to help support her family. Her parents work as day laborers, earning less than 3 dollars a day. While she helps her family around the house, Moe Moe is now unable to work because of concerns regarding her medical condition. Burma Border Projects is requesting $2,000 to fund an operation to remove the mass on Moe Moe's neck. With proper treatment, Moe Moe will be able to help support her family and live the healthy life every teenage girl deserves!

Last week, Bridget was running with her friends when she slipped and dislocated her elbow, causing her bone to protrude from her skin and rendering her arm completely immobile. Bridget needs surgical realignment to prevent this injury from turning into a permanent disability. Doctors at CURE are hopeful that with medical care, Bridget, "will regain full use of her arm, which would be permanently damaged without surgical intervention." Bridget's father works as a security guard to support Bridget, her brother, and her sisters. He hopes his daughter is able to make a speedy recovery!
