Fred is a 50-year-old teacher from Southwestern Uganda. He teaches at a primary school and lives alone in a semi-permanent house. He also takes care of some of his nieces and nephews and contributes to their school fees. Five years ago, Fred developed a small, painless cyst on his right wrist. Over the last few years, the cyst has been growing and is becoming more painful, especially when he is writing on the chalkboard. He visited a local hospital and after an exam, a mass excision surgery is recommended to help him heal. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), is helping Fred receive treatment. He traveled to AMH's care center where, on August 23rd, surgeons will remove the mass. Now, Fred needs help to raise $145 to fund this procedure. Fred shared, “currently, I can not afford the cost of surgery yet I desire to be treated and ease off the pain. Please help me."

Rin is a 36-year-old accountant. He's been married for 11 years and has two children. His daughter is ten years old and in grade five, while his son is eight years old and in grade three. His wife grows sugar palms and sells sugar and sweets. In May, Rin was in a motor vehicle accident where he fractured his right humerus. The fracture also caused paralysis of his right wrist. He was treated with a Khmer traditional treatment, but his fracture did not heal. He then had a cast for one month, but there was no improvement to his condition. He's been diagnosed with a brachial plexus injury. The brachial plexus is a nerve network that transmits signals from the spine to the shoulder, arm, and hand. Injuries to this nerve network can result in loss of function and sensation. He is unable to lift his wrist and he cannot work. Rin traveled to visit our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), to receive treatment. On September 8th, he will undergo brachial plexus repair surgery and, after recovery, he will be able to use his wrist again. Now, CSC is requesting $696 to fund this procedure. Rin shared that he hopes that he can use his wrist again and return to work.

Kea is a 47-year-old construction worker. He's married and has two children, including a nine-year-old son in fourth grade and a 13-year-old daughter in eighth grade. Both of his children study hard in their school and his wife works as a seller at a local market. In March 2021, Kea fell about two meters from a roof during work and dislocated his ankle. After the accident, he tried a Khmer traditional treatment, but it did not help him heal. He experiences pain while walking and he is unable to work. Kea takes pain medication to ease his symptoms, but he needs additional treatment. When Kea learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), he traveled for two hours seeking treatment. On September 8th, surgeons at CSC will perform an ankle fusion with screws and plates so that he is no longer in pain and can use his ankle again. Now, Kea needs help to fund this $518 procedure. Kea shared, "I hope that I can stop taking pain medication and return to work."
