Hsit is a 16-year-old girl living with her family in a refugee camp in Mae Hong Son Province, Thailand. She shares her home with her parents, two older sisters, two older brothers, and two younger sisters. While Hsit and her younger sisters focus on their studies, her oldest brother works as a day laborer, and the rest of her siblings are currently unemployed. Her mother weaves traditional Karen shirts, with help from her older sister, and her father occasionally takes on day labor jobs. Unfortunately, their combined income is insufficient to meet their needs, forcing them to borrow rice to get by each month. In her free time, Hsit enjoys spending time with her friends at the monastery, helping with cleaning tasks. Recently, however, she has faced a health challenge. She started experiencing severe abdominal pain, dizziness, and difficulty sleeping. After seeing a doctor, she was diagnosed with appendicitis and now urgently needs surgery to prevent her condition from worsening. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is helping Hsit receive treatment. On September 3rd, she is scheduled to undergo surgery to remove the infected appendix at Mae Sariang Hospital. This procedure will cost $1,500, and Hsit and her family need your support. Hsit's older sister says, "I feel very sad and worried when I see her in so much pain. My only wish is that she gets well soon."

Sary is a 57-year-old woman who lives with her husband and her 20-year-old son in Cambodia. Her husband works as a construction worker, while her son is currently studying in grade 12. In her free time, Sary enjoys making sweets for her husband and son. In late July this year, Sary unfortunately sustained a fall at home, which broke her right hip. She went to a local hospital for treatment but was unable to afford it, so she resorted to seeking care through Khmer traditional medicine in her village instead. Unfortunately, the hip fracture has not healed. She is unable to walk, and now relies on a wheelchair for getting around. Sary and her husband traveled for three hours to seek help from our medical partner, the Children’s Surgical Centre. On August 22nd, surgeons at Kien Khleang National Rehabilitation Centre will perform a joint replacement surgery on her right hip. This procedure will help restore her mobility, and relieve pain. Sary is able to contribute $100 towards the cost of her treatment and needs help raising $444 more to fund the procedure. Sary says, "I hope to have surgery soon so that I can return home and help take care of my family."

Sina is a 36-year-old poultry farmer from Cambodia. He comes from a family of seven siblings. Sina has one sister and five brothers. He lives alone and raises chickens and ducks around his home for their meat and eggs. In his free time, he likes to watch sports on his phone. In February 2015, Sina was in a motor vehicle accident, fracturing his right ankle and leg. He was treated at a provincial hospital and was told he needed an amputation due to impaired circulation in his leg from the trauma, but he could not afford it. He visited a Khmer traditional healer, but eventually went to another hospital and underwent an above-the-knee amputation. He began using a prosthesis after his surgical site healed. Unfortunately, one week ago, he slipped and fell, resulting in a fracture in the left neck of his femur or thigh bone. This has made it difficult for him to walk, and he is experiencing pain. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On October 11th, Sina will undergo a fracture repair procedure, which will cost $483. This procedure will stabilize his fracture, decrease his pain, and allow him to return to his normal life. Sina said, "I hope I will be able to walk again with my leg so I can care for my ducks and chickens to support myself and help my family."
