This is Yogendra, a friendly and studious ten-year-old boy from Nepal! Yogendra lives with his two younger sisters and his parents, who both work as wage laborers to support their family. He is currently in third grade at a local public school, and he loves his Nepali language class. Our medical partner, Possible, tells us “Yogendra wishes to be a teacher when he grows up." One day, one of the boys on the school playground accidentally pushed Yogendra while they were running around during a game. Yogendra fell on the floor with an outstretched hand, which resulted in a painful and swollen right elbow. After this incident, Yogendra was unable to move his right arm and has not attended school ever since. It has been difficult for Yogendra to eat and write property as well. For $205, we can fund Yogendra's surgery and help him regain mobility in his right arm so he can go back to school!

Meet Mahendra from Nepal. He's 31-years-old, works in the police force, and is a husband and father to three children. Recently Mahendra met with an accident. "Mahendra was in his own room when he fumbled over the carpet and fell down after which his thumb hit the wall," our partner in Nepal, Possible, tells us. "He developed pain, swelling, and loss of movement of his right thumb." Mahendra cannot work without the full use of his hand. Fortunately, for $205, Possible will be able to treat Mahendra's thumb fracture and expect him to have a full recovery. "Mahendra will be relieved from the pain," they write. "His thumb will be normal again and he will be able to join his duty again." Let's fund Mahendra's care so he can go back to work at the police force!

Meet noisy little Verneza from Kenya. At just one year old she already has a lot to say! Her father is a casual laborer, while her mother takes care of her and her two older siblings. Verneza was born with a gap in her spinal vertebrae, called spina bifida. If not treated, Verneza is likely to develop deformities in her back as she grows up. She also has an open mass on her back which is at risk of becoming infected. Verneza's father says, “All I pray for is for my daughter to be treated so that she can live a healthy and normal life.” Unfortunately, the family are barely making ends meet, and cannot afford surgical care for Verneza. Verneza needs $980 for an operation to close the gap in her vertebrae. This will help prevent infection and reduce the chances of her developing an abnormally shaped back as she grows up.
