Thomas is a watchman who takes care of his wife and children from Malawi. For six months, Thomas has had a left inguinal hernia. He experiences a lot of pain, which makes him unable to work. Fortunately, on March 19, he will undergo hernia repair surgery at Nkhoma Hospital, our medical partner's care center. Our medical partner, World Altering Medicine, is requesting $334 to fund Thomas's surgery. The requested money pays for supplies, medications, and six nights of hospital stay. He says, "My family is relived that we have found help for surgery through this program. Many, many thanks!"

Brian is a baby from Kenya. The family lives in Makulani village in the Eastern region of Kenya. Brian has been diagnosed with encephalocoele, a type of neural tube defect in which brain tissues and overlying membranes protrude through openings in the skull. Encephalocoele usually results from a failure of the neural tube to completely close during fetal development. Without treatment, Brian is at risk of developmental delays, brain damage, or premature death. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $929 to fund encephalocoele repair surgery for Brian. The procedure is scheduled to take place on February 7. Hopefully, the repair of this condition will allow Brian to grow up healthy. “I hope he gets treated,” says Brian’s mother.

Ly is a vegetable farmer from Cambodia. He has two sons, three daughters, seven grandchildren. He likes to listen to monks pray on the radio and read about Buddha. A year ago, Ly developed a cataract in his right eye, causing him tearing, irritation, and a cloudy lens. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside. When Ly learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for two hours seeking treatment. On November 12, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his right eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $211 procedure. He says, "I hope my surgery is successful so I can see my grandkids' faces and I can read."

Sarin is a grandfather from Cambodia. He has one daughter and two grandkids. He likes to watch boxing matches, read the newspaper, and listen to monks pray on the radio. He is a rice farmer. On November 1, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his left eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $211 procedure. He says, "I hope I can see clearly so I can do work at home and go about my life independently."

Kang is a chief of village from Cambodia. He has six sons, two daughters, and ten grandchildren. He likes to watch boxing matches on TV. Five months ago, Kang developed a cataract in each eye, causing him blurry vision and photophobia. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside. When Kang learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On October 22, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification surgery and an intraocular lens implant in each eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $398 procedure. He says, "I hope I can return to work after my vision improves."
