Juliet is a farmer from Uganda. She and her husband Moses have eight children. They are small farmers, growing potatoes, cassava, maize, and other crops for domestic use, as well as bananas for outside sale. When she is not working in the fields, Juliet enjoys weaving baskets and visiting with her daughters, grandchildren, and other women in the village. She was once an active member of her church choir but has not been able to sing for some time due to trouble with her thyroid.
Juliet has had growths on her thyroid for 25 years. They have caused her significant pain, but she has been able to live with it until quite recently. In the past few months, her symptoms have expanded and she now has trouble speaking. Doctors have recommended a thyroidectomy.
Our medical partner, The Kellermann Foundation, is requesting $279 to fund Juliet's surgery. She is scheduled for treatment on July 7 at our medical partner's care center, Bwindi Community Hospital. After her operation, Juliet will be able to speak, sing, and live free from pain once again.
“I pray to God to protect all the donors and all they do to help the needy," says Juliet. "I thank them so much for all the support.”
