Meet Hikmat, a 16-year-old boy from Nepal. “He lives with his parents, two brothers, and two sisters," shares our medical partner, Possible. "Hikmat enjoys reading Nepali stories in school and loves to play football with his siblings." Two weeks ago, Hikmat developed a painful abscess on his neck. A abscess occurs when a confined pocket of pus collects in tissues, organs, or spaces inside the body. "The area hurts and also causes fevers at night," Possible explains. Hikamat went with his cousin to Possible's hospital for treatment. With $220, “Hikamat's abscess will be drained and a hygienic dressing will be used to ensure the wound heals properly. His fever and pain are expected to go down,” Possible explains.
