Rady is a 29-year-old rice seller and his wife sells groceries. Together, they have a daughter and a son. When not working, Rady enjoys listening to music on his phone and playing football.
Two years ago, Rady developed a pterygium in his left eye, causing him irritation, tearing, and discomfort with his appearance. Pterygiums are non-cancerous growths of the eye that occur due to excessive sun damage. Now, Rady has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, working, and going anywhere outside.
When Rady learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for two and a half hours seeking treatment. Rady needs a surgical procedure to remove the abnormal growth and replace it with a graft to prevent recurrence. The total cost of his procedure is $216, and covers medications, supplies, and inpatient care for two days. The procedure is scheduled for July 5th.
Rady said, "I hope my eye irritation stops so I can sell food with my wife without worrying about my vision."
