Rady is a 29-year-old rice seller and his wife sells groceries. Together, they have a daughter and a son. When not working, Rady enjoys listening to music on his phone and playing football. Two years ago, Rady developed a pterygium in his left eye, causing him irritation, tearing, and discomfort with his appearance. Pterygiums are non-cancerous growths of the eye that occur due to excessive sun damage. Now, Rady has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, working, and going anywhere outside. When Rady learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for two and a half hours seeking treatment. Rady needs a surgical procedure to remove the abnormal growth and replace it with a graft to prevent recurrence. The total cost of his procedure is $216, and covers medications, supplies, and inpatient care for two days. The procedure is scheduled for July 5th. Rady said, "I hope my eye irritation stops so I can sell food with my wife without worrying about my vision."

Chanthea is a 31-year-old rice farmer from Cambodia. He has two sons and one daughter. When he is not working, Chanthea enjoys playing football and volleyball, watching TV, listening to music, and working around his home. Chanthea fell down a staircase and endured a severe fracture of his right leg. A clinic operated on his fracture and inserted a nail to help him heal. Now that his fracture has healed it is time to remove the nail so that he has full mobility and doesn't risk future infection. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On November 30th, Chanthea will undergo a fracture hardware removal procedure, which will cost $230. Chanthea said, "My family is worried about me having this in my leg. I hope the surgery goes well and I recover quickly."

Kikafunda is a farmer from Uganda. He is a married father to seven children, including five sons with three still studying and two driving motorcycle taxis. His two daughters are married and are now small-scale farmers. Kikafunda holds a degree in social work and social administration and has all along been working with NGOs, but lost his job. He now does farming where he earns from his banana plantation, but since he still has children studying, the money he earns from the plantation alone can’t sustain him and provide to the family. For some time now, Kikafunda has had a left inguinal hernia. This hernia causes him weakness and pain and prevents him from working. Fortunately, on September 8th, he will undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner's care center. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $230 to fund Kikafunda's surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently. Kikafunda told us: “I hope to get relief because I have really had this condition for so long and it has given me a hard time.”

Chantha is a 56-year-old rice and vegetable farmer from Cambodia. She has one brother and four sisters, and currently lives with her younger sister. In her free time, Chantha enjoys cooking, taking care of her nephews, and watching TV. In January 2020, Chantha was in a motor vehicle accident that caused a closed fracture of her left tibia. After the accident, she went to a government hospital where a nail was put in her tibia to heal the fracture. Now, the bone has healed and she would like the nail to be removed to avoid future complications such as pain and infection. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, can help. On November 26th, Chantha will undergo a hardware removal procedure, which will cost $230. This procedure will be remove the hardware and allow her to be completed healed from her accident. Chantha shared, "I hope the wound will heal quickly so I can return to work."
