Kisembo is a businessman from Uganda. He is married and a father of five children. Two years ago, Kisembo underwent an appendectomy. In the process of healing, he noticed a swelling at the incision site. If not treated, this hernia may result in intestinal tissue damage and blocking. Fortunately, on August 22, he will undergo hernia repair surgery at our medical partner's care center. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $249 to fund Kisembo's surgery. Once completed, this procedure will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably and confidently. He says, “After recovery I will resume working in my shop as a shopkeeper.”

Sophea is a construction worker from Cambodia. He has a brother and a sister. He likes to play football with friends in his free time. Four months ago, Sophea was in a motor vehicle accident that caused paralysis of his left arm. He has been diagnosed with a brachial plexus injury on his left side. The brachial plexus is a nerve network that transmits signals from the spine to the shoulder, arm, and hand. Injuries to this nerve network can result in loss of function and sensation. He is unable to move his left arm and has no feeling in his left hand. Sophea traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On August 2, he will undergo a brachial plexus repair surgery. After recovery, he will be able to use his arm again. Our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, is requesting $637 to fund this procedure. He says, "I hope after the operation, I can use my arm again and have no pain."

Menghour is a young boy who likes to play with his toys at home and drink Coca Cola. He lives in Cambodia. He has two brothers and a sister. He wants to be a tuk tuk driver when he grows up. Two years ago, Menghour's left hand was injured by a conveyor belt. He has since developed skin contractures that make it hard to move his hand. He needs to undergo a contracture release surgery to freely use his hand again. His father says, "My son's hand does not move easily." Fortunately, Menghour is scheduled for surgery on August 9. Now, his family needs help raising $417 to fund this procedure. He will be able to use his hand normally after the operation.

Va Youk is a second grader from Cambodia. He has two brothers. He likes studying mathematics and wants to be a nurse when he grows up. He loves to drink coca cola and read books. Seven years ago, Va Youk was burned by a pot of hot porridge, burning his left wrist. Burn scar contractures have developed, tightening the skin around his burn. It is difficult for him to bend his wrist and use his hand. When Va Youk learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for four and a half hours seeking treatment. On August 2, surgeons at CSC will perform a burn contracture release surgery to to use his hand freely again. Now, he needs help to fund this $448 procedure. His father says, "I hope my son's surgery is successful so that he can return to school soon."
