Alituha is an eight-year-old student from Uganda. He works hard in school and wants to become a police officer in the future. When Alituha was two years old, he developed a swelling in his scrotum that continued to grow and become painful over time. His parents became worried and took him to a local hospital where Alituha was diagnosed with a right hydrocele, and advised to undergo corrective surgery. Seeking treatment through our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, Alituha is scheduled to undergo surgery to correct his condition on July 12. His family is requesting $185 to cover the total cost of his procedure and care. “My son after surgery will resume his studies and will have good health,” his father says.

Meet Richard, a cute, one-year old baby boy from Tanzania. Richard likes to play with cars and crawl around. He is an only child and his parents “love him very much," says our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation (AMHF). Richard was born with bilateral clubfoot. This congenital deformity has delayed his ability to begin walking, and if not treated, Richard will not have the ability to walk on the sole of his foot or wear normal shoes. For $1,160, we can fund treatment that will allow Richard to walk normally for the rest of his life. The cost of the treatment includes cost for the surgery as well as a fiberglass cast. Richard's parents are small-scale farmers and have “already spent a lot of money trying to look for the right treatment for their son without success. Now that they have found where the clubfoot can be corrected, they do not have enough funds to cover the treatment,” says our partner, AMHF. Let's help Richard get walking. As Richard's mother says, “I would like my son to be able to walk, go to school, study well, get a good career and live a better life.”

Lun is an assiduous 14-year-old student, who attends school on a daily basis despite the difficulties she faces walking to school. Lun was born with a condition where her right thigh muscles stiffen, causing frequent knee dislocations. Lun says that because of her condition, she falls down a lot and doesn’t like to move around. Thankfully, for $300, surgeons at our partner in Cambodia will be able to correct her condition by releasing the tension in her right thigh.
