Nin is a rice farmer from Cambodia. He has one son and one daughter. He likes to tend to his vegetable garden and do housework in his free time. Four years ago, Nin developed avascular necrosis and hip pain on his right side. He cannot walk on his own and is in chronic pain. Fortunately, Nin learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre. At CSC, surgeons can perform a total hip replacement to relieve Nin of his pain and allow him to walk easily. Treatment is scheduled for November 06, and Nin needs help raising $1,025 to pay for this procedure. He says, "I hope I can return to work and walk on my own again."

Rachhith is a twelfth grade student from Cambodia. He has three brothers and a sister. He likes to read and play football. Sixteen years ago, Rachhith developed nasal polyps, noncancerous growths in the lining of the nasal passage. For this reason, he experiences nasal obstruction. It is difficult for him to breathe. When Rachhith learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for four hours seeking treatment. On December 5, doctors will perform a nasal polypectomy to remove the polyps. After recovery, he will be able to breathe more easily. Now, he needs help to fund this $267 procedure. He says, "I hope I can breathe and sleep better after the operation."

Eden is an Eritrean refugee from Kenya. She has been living in Kenya since 2015. It took her two months to cross into Kenya through Sudan. Eden has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Without treatment, the cancer may spread to other organs. A mastectomy, a surgery to remove breast tissue, has been suggested to rid her body of breast cancer and to prevent the cancer from metastasizing. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $816 to cover the cost of a mastectomy for Eden. The procedure is scheduled to take place on October 31. After treatment, Eden will hopefully return to a cancer-free life. Eden says, “I want to be treated and be cancer-free. I am confident I will manage to fight off the condition."

Phat is a vegetable farmer from Cambodia. She has one daughter, five sons, and ten grandchildren. She likes to listen to monks pray on the radio. A month ago, Phat developed a cataract in each eye, causing her blurry vision, itchiness, tearing, and photophobia. She has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside. When Phat learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, she traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On December 7, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in each eye. After recovery, she will be able to see clearly. Now, she needs help to fund this $398 procedure. Her husband says, "I hope my wife's eye surgery is successful so that she can see clearly and return to work."

Yuk is a rice farmer from Cambodia. He has two sons, three daughters, and four grandchildren. He likes to watch boxing matches on TV. Three months ago, Yuk developed a cataract in each eye, causing him blurry vision. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside. When Yuk learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre, he traveled for six hours seeking treatment. On November 9, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in each eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $398 procedure. He says, "I hope I can recognize the faces of my grandchildren and participate in ceremonies in the local pagoda."

Bernard is a laborer from Kenya. He is married and has four children. In early December, Bernard was hit by a moving vehicle. He sustained a closed fracture of his right clavicle bone. He is not able to move his shoulder freely and is in constant pain. Fortunately, surgeons at our medical partner can help. On December 20, Bernard will undergo a fracture repair procedure, called an open reduction and internal fixation. This procedure will help his healing, and he will be able to use his arm. Now, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $998 to fund this procedure. “I am so desperate and feel like I may never be able to use my hand anymore, yet I have a family to care for. Kindly help me," says Bernard.

Tumuramye is a tailor from Uganda. She has five siblings. Her parents are small-scale farmers. Three years ago, Tumuramye began to experience troubling symptoms, including recurrent headaches and heart palpitations. She was diagnosed with a multi-nodular goiter. She needs surgery to prevent her symptoms from getting worse. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is helping Tumuramye receive treatment. She is scheduled to undergo a thyroidectomy on November 20 at our medical partner's care center. Surgeons will remove all or part of her thyroid gland. This procedure will cost $240, and she and her family need help raising money. Tumuramye says, “I will continue with tailoring after surgery."

Nehemiah is a young boy from Tanzania. He is the fourth in a family of nine kids. Nehemiah has clubfoot of his left foot. Clubfoot is a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape. This causes difficulty walking and even wearing shoes. Fortunately, Nehemiah traveled to visit our medical partner's care center, Arusha Lutheran Medical Centre. There, surgeons will perform clubfoot repair surgery on December 14. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $890 to fund Nehemiah's clubfoot repair. After treatment, he will be able to walk easily and be able to join school. Nehemiah’s father says, “We are thankful that our son is receiving treatment.”

Aung is a 15-year-old student from Thailand. He lives with his mother and younger brother in Mae Sot, Tak Province. His mother works as a greengrocer at her own stall in the market, and his younger brother studies at the same school with Aung. In his free time, he likes to play football and cane ball with his friends. In 2017, Aung started to experience blurry vision. He had his eyes checked and received a new pair of glasses. However, in 2018, his left eye became cloudy. He now has a headache and cannot see clearly with his left eye. Our medical partner, Burma Children Medical Fund, is requesting $1,500 to fund lens replacement surgery for Aung. On December 19, doctors will perform a lens replacement, during which they will remove Aung's natural lens and replace it with an intraocular lens implant in his left eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $1,500 procedure. Aung’s teacher says, “His mother is worried that Aung’s condition will worsen, and she is also afraid that he will go blind.”

Upendo is a child from Tanzania. She is the youngest in a family of ten children. Upendo has bilateral clubfoot. Clubfoot is a condition in which the foot is twisted out of shape. This causes difficulty walking and even wearing shoes. Fortunately, Upendo traveled to visit our medical partner's care center, Arusha Lutheran Medical Centre. There, surgeons will perform clubfoot repair surgery on December 5. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation, is requesting $890 to fund Upendo's clubfoot repair. After treatment, she will be able to walk normally. Upendo says, “We tried to treat our daughter but due to financial challenges we were unable to complete it. Please help our daughter.”

Phannet is a government worker from Cambodia. He has five sisters and two brothers. He likes to listen to classical music. Phannet has ptosis in his left eye. Ptosis occurs when the eyelid droops over the eye. He has blurred vision. Phannet traveled to our medical partner's care center to receive treatment. On November 2, surgeons at our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), will perform an eyelid correction procedure to improve his vision. Now, Phannet needs help to raise $292 to fund this procedure. He says, "I hope my surgery is a success so I can see better. I also want to feel more confident in myself and my looks."

Mafken is a father to six children and a grandfather to many grandchildren. from Malawi. He enjoys farming and relaxing at home with his family. Since April 2017, Mafken has been experiencing pain and urinary difficulty. These symptoms are caused by an enlarged prostate, a condition called benign prostatic hyperplasia. He needs to undergo a prostate resection surgery, a procedure in which surgeons will remove part of the enlarged gland. Our medical partner, World Altering Medicine, is requesting $733 to fund Mafken's surgery. On October 18, he will undergo prostate surgery at Nkhoma Hospital, our medical partner's care center. The requested money pays for supplies, medications, and two weeks of hospital stay. He says, “Thank you for funding my surgery, as I am unable to pay for it myself and I am looking forward to being better soon.”
