Meet Brandy! Brandy is a two-year-old girl living in Guatemala with her family. Our medical partner there, Wuqu’ Kawoq, writes, “she has suffered from frequent intestinal infections which have led to progressive weight loss.” Because of this, Brandy is very malnourished. WK continues, “She has little appetite, and her language and motor development is very delayed. She needs immediate intervention to get her back on track and protect her long term cognitive potential.” Brandy's mom is quite worried about her because "she is not healthy, and she is not growing." She is hopeful that, with our help, she can start to see positive changes in Brandy's appetite and growth. With just $535, WK will be able to provide formula and medication to treat Brandy's malnutrition, which will resume her growth, end her intestinal infections, and improve her language and motor development.

Soy, a 64-year-old woman from Cambodia, has one daughter and four grandchildren. She's experiencing a hypermature cataract in her left eye, causing partial blindness. “Soy has been partially blind for the past year. She has been unable to work as a rice farmer and has a hard time cooking and caring for her family,” shares our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC). In her spare time, Soy enjoys listening to the radio and the monks praying at the pagoda. Together we can ensure Soy’s vision is restored. For just $150, Soy will receive cataract surgery which will improve her eyesight and prevent future blindness. CSC tells us, “Soy is most looking forward to joining the ceremonies and visiting family in another province.”

This is Dharma. Dharma is a 22-year-old farmer in Nepal. She tends a small field with her in-laws to support herself and her husband. Dharma recently fell from a tree while collecting fodder for cattle, which knocked her unconscious, gave her a cut on her face, and fractured her pelvis. Dharma has not been able to walk since the fall and is in a great deal of pain. Unfortunately, the pelvic fracture that Dharma has requires surgery. If the fracture is not repaired, she may have lifelong disability and difficulty standing, walking and working. For $1,040, Dharma will receive surgery to repair her pelvis fracture. Dharma hopes the surgery will get her back on her feet so she can start a family with her husband. Let's help Dharma get the care she needs!
