A 79-year-old husband with eight children and ten grandchildren, Marn lives in Cambodia and “enjoys listening to monks praying,” reports our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC).
Marn has mature cataracts in both of his eyes which has brought him worsening vision over the years. CSC explains that although “sometimes Marn can ask his son-in-law to assist him, he feels bad bothering him.” However, for the most part Marn’s cataracts confine him mainly to his own house.
$225 will fund a simple surgery to remove Marn’s cataracts. Each eye will require a separate trip to the hospital, with a few weeks in between to give Marn sufficient time to recover. After each operation, Marn will spend two days in the hospital to help him recover smoothly.
CSC shares that, “after surgery, Marn wants to be able to do his own work, go to the pagoda and not have to bother his relatives to take him places.”
