Dalis is a three-year-old girl who is an only child in her family. She enjoys drawing pictures and watching cartoons. Dalis traveled one hour with her mom to reach Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC) for treatment.
Dalis had a button battery (the small disk shaped battery you’d find in a wrist watch) in her nose for three days. This is a common object for young children around the world to stumble upon and put into their ear, nose, or mouth, and it can cause serious bone and tissue damage and even death. She had the battery removed under general anesthesia at a local hospital, but has since experienced a runny nose, pain, and bleeding every day.
Her mother brought her to CSC and our doctors discovered remaining dead and infected skin and bone in her nose that was caused by the battery. For $99, our surgeons will remove the dead and infected tissue and bone from her nose under general anesthesia.
After the surgery she will be safe from further complications and her pain and bleeding will stop.
“Sometimes I can not go to work because she has pain in her right nose,” Dalis’ mother said. “I hope her infection stops and she can have good health.”
