Reaksa is a seven-year-old student from Cambodia. He is the youngest of four siblings from Kampong Cham province. His father is a tuk-tuk tricycle driver, and his mother works at a clothing factory. In his free time, Reaksa enjoys playing games on his mom’s phone, spending time with his friends in the village, and eating his favorite meal - fried chicken with rice.
For the past year, Reaksa has been experiencing sore throats, hearing loss, and a persistent blocked nose. He struggles to hear clearly at school, and often feels uncomfortable due to throat pain and nasal congestion. This affects his ability to concentrate and participate in daily activities. Reaksa was recently diagnosed with enlarged tonsils and adenoids, which, if not treated, will cause his symptoms to persist and possibly intensify over time.
Our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, is requesting $345 to fund a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy for Reaksa, which is scheduled to take place on October 8th. Surgeons will remove his tonsils and adenoids, hopefully relieving Reaksa of his symptoms and helping him live much more comfortably.
Reaksa’s father said: “After the surgery I hope that my son’s condition will improve, so he can grow up healthy and focus more on his studies.”
