Phal is a 48-year-old farmer from Cambodia with three sons and a daughter. He enjoys cooking food and looking after his children.
Two years ago, Phal was in a motor vehicle accident. He fractured his right ankle and received some treatment at private clinics. However, his pain remains. Phal traveled three hours with his daughter to reach Watsi’s medical partner, Children’s Surgical Center (CSC), to receive treatment. He continues to complain of right ankle pain and limited range of motion.
Doctors at CSC have diagnosed Phal’s condition as ankle arthritis and will perform a joint arthrodesis procedure on his right ankle. $392 in funding will cover the costs of this procedure. Surgeons will mend Phal’s ankle joint with metal plates or screws, and eventually a bone graft will fuse the bones together. He will be able to walk again with ease after he heals completely.
With our support, Phal can return to his family in good health.
