Sophean is a 22-year-old farmer who has two sisters and three brothers. He likes to watch TV and listen to music on the radio.
Two years ago, Sophean was bitten by a Malayan pit viper. The injury caused a Volkmann contracture, permanently shortening the forearm muscles of his left arm. He was treated by a Khmer traditional healer, but his symptoms did not improve. It is difficult for him to flex and extend his left wrist and hand.
When Sophean learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre (CSC), he traveled for six hours to seek treatment. On November 2, CSC surgeons performed a tendon repair surgery.
After recovery, Sophean will be able to use his left wrist and hand easily. Now, he needs help to fund this $450 surgery.
