Philip is a charming, friendly, and talkative three-year-old boy, and the youngest child in a family of six children. Philip's family has experienced financial challenges, and they are supported by their church. Philip does not attend school yet, but some of his siblings have their education are sponsored and are doing well in school. Philip has been diagnosed with bilateral genu valgus, a condition in which the knees angle inward and touch one another when the legs are straightened. The condition is typically caused by an excessive accumulation of fluoride in the bones, which often stems from contaminated drinking water. As a result, he has difficulty walking. Fortunately, our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare (AMH), is helping Philip receive medical treatment. On April 8th, he will undergo corrective surgery at AMH's care center. Treatment will hopefully restore Philip's mobility, allowing him to attend school, participate in a variety of activities, and greatly decreasing his risk of future complications. Philip’s mother shared, "please help my son, he is struggling to walk."

Rom is a 64-year-old lumberjack. He is married and has three daughters, four sons, and twenty grandchildren. Rom and his wife live with one of their daughters. In his free time, Rom likes to listen to the monks pray on the radio. Two years ago, Rom developed a cataract in his right eye, causing him blurry vision, photophobia, and tearing. As a result, he has difficulty seeing things clearly, including colors and faces, and is worried about falling when walking, so he cannot go places on his own. When Rom learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), he traveled for three and half hours seeking treatment. On June 13th, doctors will perform cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his right eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. CSC is requesting $253 to fund his procedure. Rom shared, "I want to do more again. I hope I can see clearly again and can go outside by myself."

Phors is a 41-year-old motor-taxi driver who is married and has one daughter and two sons. Phors's wife is a farmer and all of their children are in school. At home, Phors enjoys watching the news on TV. One year ago, Phors developed a cataract in his left eye, causing him photophobia and blurry vision. It is hard for him to be out in the bright sun. When Phors learned about our medical partner, Children's Surgical Centre (CSC), he traveled there hoping for treatment. On May 10th, doctors will perform a small incision cataract surgery, and an intraocular lens implant in his left eye. After recovery, Phors will be able to see clearly. CSC is requesting $253 to fund his care. Phors says, "I hope after surgery my eye can see clearly. I would like to return to driving my motor-taxi again so I can earn money for my children's studies."
