Ra is a 27-year-old construction worker from Cambodia. He lives in Kompong Cham province with his mother, who stays home to care for one of her grandchildren. His two siblings live nearby and help support the family since Ra has been out of work. In his free time, Ra enjoys reading the news and playing with his nieces and nephews.
In 2024, Ra was in a motorbike accident, causing an open fracture on his left shin. He went to a local hospital for fracture repair surgery using external fixation to realign the bone. However, he continues to experience pain and difficulty walking, and is unable to take more than a few steps without crutches.
When Ra learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, he traveled for five hours seeking treatment. On December 11th, surgeons at CSC will perform a skin graft procedure to to heal his chronic wound and help him walk easily again. Now, Ra needs help to fund this $583 procedure.
Ra said, “After the surgery I hope that I will no longer have pain and be able to walk comfortably, so I can return to my construction job and earn money to support my family.”
