Meet Ridah, a hard-working and caring 56-year-old woman from Kenya! Ridah is married, and works on a small maize farm with her husband and three children. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare Foundation (AMHF), reports that Ridah’s husband “has been in and out of hospital for the past few months because of a neurological condition. He is currently admitted in a hospital in their home area. Only one of her children is employed and he is the one paying his father’s medical bills”.
In addition to Ridah currently working to support her family without her husband’s assistance, she is also experiencing pain due to a malignant tumor affecting her right breast. According to AMHF, if the tumor is not surgically removed, “the cancer will spread to other parts of Ridah’s body and this would lead to premature death”.
Ridah has not been able to raise the money needed for her treatment, and she knows her family’s financial situation is strained as it is: “My son is taking care of my husband and his own family. I do not want to be another burden on him”.
For $740, we can fund a mastectomy that would remove Ridah’s tumor, allowing her to continue working pain-free to take care of her family. With our help, Ridah will be able to live a normal and healthy life again!
