Salmo is a farmer’s son from Zamboanga Sibugay in the Philippines. Salmo is an adorable child and the family’s ray of sunshine. He enjoys walking and going outside every morning to get some sun and play, and watching educational videos to support his child’s development.
At birth, Salmo was diagnosed with an imperforated anus, Down syndrome, hypothyroidism, and congenital heart disease. His heart condition has been treated, but he still has a colostomy bag on the side of his abdomen, which was placed when he was only three days old. Salmo needs to undergo a series of procedures to help improve his quality of life.
Fortunately, our medical partner, World Surgical Foundation Philippines (WSFP), is helping Salmo undergo treatment. He is scheduled to undergo surgery to correct his condition on October 30th. The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation is supporting a portion of the cost of his treatment, and WSFP is raising $1,123 to cover the remaining cost of Salmo’s procedure and care. After his recovery, Salmo will no longer experience bowel dysfunction or be at risk of developing health complications in the future.
Salmo’s family shared, “Thank you very much to Watsi and to all the generous hearts who donate to it. You are helping many patients who need medical help, and we are from Mindanao and need help for our child. This is a big help to our family.”
