Chantha is a 56-year-old man from Cambodia. Chantha is married and has one soon and one grandchild. Chantha’s wife is a farmer of rice and other crops. Chantha is disabled and has leprosy so he is not able to work. He lives nearby the our Medical Partner’s Hospital at a leprosy charity center. Chantha enjoys watching the news and listening to the monks pray on the radio.
Two years ago, Chantha developed a cataract in his left eye, causing him blurred vision, tearing, and photophobia. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and going anywhere outside.
When Chantha learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, he came with his friend seeking treatment. On October 6th, doctors will perform phacoemulsification and an intraocular lens implant in his left eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
Chantha said, “I hope I can see clearer than now so I can go walking outside on my own and be more independent.”
