San is a 76-year-old farmer. He and his wife have three sons and four grandchildren. He recently had to retire due to his vision, so he stays at home to help with household chores and take care of his grandchildren while his sons work. During his free time, he enjoys listening to the radio.
Five years ago, San developed a cataract in his left eye causing him sensitivity to light, blurry vision, and occasional tearing. He has difficulty seeing things clearly, recognizing faces, and now going anywhere outside.
When San learned about our medical partner, Children’s Surgical Centre, he traveled for three hours seeking treatment. On July 12th, doctors will perform a phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant in his left eye. After recovery, he will be able to see clearly. Now, he needs help to fund this $229 procedure.
San shared, “since I cannot work anymore, I hope that after this surgery I can start a vegetable garden in my house to get extra income.”
